It is called modak in Marathi,Konkani and in Gujarati language..modhaka or kadubu in Kannada. ..modhakam or kozhakkattai in Tamil and kudumu in Telugu. The steamed version is called ‘Ukdiche Modak’ and is eaten hot with with ghee & is even found in Japan where it is called ‘Kangidan’ and is offered to God ‘Kangiten’. During Ganesh Puja 21 Modaks are offered to Lord Ganesha. Hence Ganesha is called ‘ Modakpriya’.
