Sattvic diet is meant to include food and eating habit that is “pure, essential, natural, vital, energy-containing, clean, conscious, true, honest, wise”

Sattvic diet emphasizes on seasonal foods, fruits, dairy products, nuts, seeds, oils, ripe vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and non-meat based proteins.
Iyengar community lays stress on Sattvik food, which donot use onions, garlic and lay focus on elements that make the body calm, restful, and peaceful as compared to Rajsik food and Tamsik Diet.

Lemon Rice is one such very light, easy to make dish that can be cooked in a jiffy, from fresh rice or left over rice, can be eaten with sambhar, chutney, gunpowder or chutney powder, papadums and pickles. Instead of getting ready made lemon rice spices, if it is made fresh at home, nutrition value is maintained, and healthy, flavourful variety of rice can be consumed.
The second recipe is Jeera Milagu or Jeera Rasam, unlike the spicy pepper or Tamarind Rasam. This Rasam is made from cummin, tamarind pulp and a dash of Heeng. It is lights, healthy and Tasty.
